Component Cut, Copy, and Paste 

The FACT includes several functions for cutting, copying, and pasting components in the "Collection Contents" (<dsc>) section of the finding aid. 

Cutting Components

• To cut a component (and all of its subordinate components) from the <dsc>, place the cursor in the desired component and use the Ctrl-Shift-X keystroke.
• This moves the cut component to a special component clipboard.

Copying Components

• To copy a component (and all of its subordinate components) in the <dsc>, place the cursor in the desired component and use the Ctrl-Shift-C keystroke.
• This adds a copy of the component to the specail component clipboard.  A "Copy Component" dialog box will appear withe message "Component copied to clipboard."  Click OK.

Pasting Components

There are three component paste options, each behaves differently in terms of how it inserts the component in the component clipboard in relation to the reference component (where the paste is initiated).

• Paste Component After (Alt-Shift-V)
  • Alt-Shift-V will insert the cut or copied component as the first sibling of the current component.

    If the current component or a preceding sibling component have a level attribute value, that level value will be added to the pasted component.

• Paste Component Into (Alt-Shift-I)
  • Alt-Shift-I will insert the cut or copied component as the first child of the current component.
• Paste Component Before (Alt-Shift-W)
  • Alt-Shift-W will insert the cut or copied component before the current component, at the same level.
