Component Levels 

Each component in the Collection Contents (<dsc>) has an explicit or implied level.  Possible levels of a component include series, subseries, file, and item.  The level is indicated using the "level" attribute on the <c01>, <c02>, <c03>, <c04>, <c05>, or <c06> element.  The FACT makes it possible to set any of those levels.  Users are required to set the level attribute for subgroup, series and subseries components.  It is unnecessary to set file or item levels.

To set the level of a component:

• Place the cursor anywhere within the selected component.
• Press Alt-L
• This brings up the "Select Component Level" dialog box.
• Select the appropriate level from the list.
• Click OK.
