How do I add a normal attribute to a Unit Date or Date element?

• Place your cursor in the date or unit date field and press Alt-U.
• A "Unit Date Attributes" or "Date Attributes" box will pop up. 
• Enter the appropriate normal value in the "Normalized value:" input box.

How do I formulate a normalized date value for a single date?

• If the date you want to normalize is just a year, the normal value is the same number value.
  • Date: 1941
  • Normal value: 1941
• If the date is a year and month, separate the four digit year and two digit month with a hyphen.
  • Date: December 1941
  • Normal value: 1941-12
• If the date is a year, month and day, separate the month and two digit day with a hyphen.
  • Date: December 7, 1941
  • Normal value: 1941-12-07

How do I formulate a normalized date value for a range of dates?

• If you need to normalize a date range value, separate the normal value of the first date from the normal value of the second date with a forward slash.
  • Date range: December 7,1941 to August 13, 1945
  • Normal value: 1941-12-07/1945-08-13
• Here are additional examples of valid normal date ranges:
  • 1941/1945
  • 1941-12/1945-08
  • 1941-12-07/1945 and so on....
